What Is The Measuring Principle Of The Laser Rangefinder

The laser has the characteristics of good linearity, small divergence angle and concentrated energy. When the laser is used for distance measurement, it is usually divided into different types according to the distance measurement length and the distance measurement principle. Today, we will introduce the principles and characteristics of laser ranging.

There are usually three measurement principles: pulse method, phase method and triangle method. Different measurement methods have different application areas. The pulse method (including the time-of-flight method) uses a laser generator to emit laser pulses, which are reflected to the generator when it encounters an object. Measure the time interval between laser emission time and laser reception time and divide by the beam to calculate the distance from the starting point to the target. The phase method uses a transmitting source to emit a continuous pulse wave, and calculates the distance by calculating the phase difference between the transmitted wave and the received wave. Triangulation uses a transmitting source to emit a laser beam, which is reflected to the receiving end after encountering the target. The transmitting point, the target object and the receiving point form a triangle, and the distance between the instrument and the target can be measured by measuring the angle of the triangle.
